Broken Laughter

Her face was broken with laughter and her heart was broken with pain.

How many of us know that reality? The situations of life that surround us can be cruel, they often do not make sense. Our minds and hearts are raging battlefields, rarely taking time to rest. Our brains do not make sense. Our reasoning is flaky. We are one way inside and another way on the outside, because how can we show our true selves, our true heart, our true confusion?

It is good though when we can share ourselves with the ones we love. The broken heart behind the face that is broken with laughter. The wretched sobs behind the confident persona. The tender softness behind the toughened exterior. We all have many different parts to us, and many will never know us completely, but a few will. A few will see all of us, and we will see all of a few.

I am acknowledging you; the broken girl or boy behind the face that is broken with laughter. I am acknowledging your struggle, your difficult fight, your hidden sides. I am proud of you. Keep going.

Your face, broken with laughter may be a sign of strength. That you continue regardless of the knotted terror that strikes your soul. You are not alone. You do not have to fight alone. You can fight from a place of victory, a place of strength in the middle of weakness. You have a Father, a heavenly Father who sees every side of you. He sees the sides that you show and the sides that you hide. He sees the sides of you that you love and the sides of you that you hate. He sees you differently than you see yourself, differently than the people around you see you. He sees the broken heart behind the face broken with laughter.

He knows you for who you are, for who He made you as. He sees the future, the past and the present. Today, please come to Him and share with Him your laughter and your brokenness. Please pour out to Him the deep places of your soul, the desires of your being and the hurts that haunt you. Come to Him and draw closer. Ask Him to draw closer. Don’t wait, but move now. Let Him know the broken heart behind the face broken with laughter.
