More

More

By Laura Craig

There’s more to life than difficulties

More to life than shame

More than social media

More than all these gains

There’s more than the perfect body

More than the shoes on our feet

More than shallow confidence

More than being a freak

There’s more to life than make-up

More to life than hair

Even though I love these things,

There’s more to life, it’s there

The more that I’m describing

Is a more you want to know

It’s a more that calms our striving

A more that helps us grow

There’s more to life than what you see

More than what you hear

The more that I’m describing

It comes from God, my dear

This more won’t leave you hungry

This more won’t leave you starved

This more will leave you hope-filled

You, the creation that He carved

This more, you could call Jesus

This more, you could call God

This more, forsake His life for you

A warrior for your cause

This more, He loves you deeply

And when that clicks inside

In your very little body

Your eyes will open wide

There’s more than room for all this pain

There’s so much room for joy

Healing alongside hurt

When it’s grace that you employ

There’s so much room for gentleness

So much room for peace

So much room for delicate words

Allowing terror to cease

You were made for so much more

Than petty little things

Please, pick up the phone and listen

When it’s God that rings

You were made for so much more

You were made for now.

This moment that were sitting in

There’s a place, a time, a how

And you, you precious human

You don’t need to solve all that

Your plan was ordained so long ago

By our Gracious God in fact

He loves you and you will do more

Do more than strive and fight

I believe that you are set free

You’ll sleep so well tonight

Give over all those things

The things that you can’t fix

You haven’t sized them up

When God is in the mix

You were made for more,

You were made for more

Listen to His soft whisper

He’s knocking at your door

You’ll go on to do great things

Of that, I have no doubt

But the greatest thing you’ll ever meet

Is God working inside out

It’s the peace you’ll feel when storms wage war

The gentleness inside

When your walls come gently tumbling

And there’s nothing left to hide

That peace will keep you steady

That peace from God himself

It’s Him you see, who made you

And He’s calling that more out

Will you listen today?

Will you hear his voice?

He says, ‘Come, let me show you,

The more I’ve always known’
